The Schedule Binder
Once upon a time, this binder saw tons of use; however, when you have the same routine for years on end, a schedule binder becomes less for you and more for others.
The weekly chores around here have been the same for years. I don’t even really have to think about them anymore. I just assign corresponding chores each morning and away we go, while my Schedule Binder collects dust.
So, why keep it around? Emergencies.
When Emily was hospitalized for weeks on end, it was imperative the children left at home live in something resembling normalcy. Normal it was not, but you do the best you can when circumstances beyond your control arise. I realized later how good it would have been to have made my Schedule Binder available to the grandparents caring for our other four children. They could have seen what our lives looked like day in and day out and offered some of that “average day” to our children.
When my mom has come to care for the children for a day or two here and there, I have left her with a list of our weekly chores and an explanation of our school day as well. That way, she knows what they are used to, and the children don’t end up running amuck the entire day.
Also, within the binder are pages I printed out years ago from FLYlady and LargeFamilyLogistics. And yes, the ever-present notebook paper for the lady who likes to make notes. 😉
It’s nothing fancy, but it’s all practical and easily usable by others.
